Crazy Rich Asians (Review)

'Crazy Rich Asians' is a romantic comedy film which stars Constance Wu and Henry Golding. This film is directed by Jon M. Chu.

A film such as Crazy Rich Asians is something that one could define by the time it came out, perhaps a few years ago a film like this wouldn't garner so much attention, politics aside, the real proof is in the pudding, if it's not a good film then  it's good intentions will be seen as rather redundant.

Luckily, Crazy Rich Asians is a film worth it's salt. While I would say that apart from the cast, this film doesn't do anything to change the rom-com formula, it does manage to have an interesting debate between American and east Asian philosophies, which are sparked back and forth between the main protagonist Rachel Chu and her boyfriend's mother Eleanor Young.

On the technical side, this film has some of the most impressive production design of this year in cinema. If anything, it does make you jealous of their fortune, please don't see this film near pay day, it may ruin you.

Performances from it's main cast are impressive, particularly Henry Golding, who while only early in his film career has proven his charisma really does stand out.

Overall, Crazy Rich Asians isn't going to win over people who are adverse to romantic comedy's, but it has enough style and old school charm to make an outsider's world involving, even if sometimes it's humour is a little too much.
